Michelle Smith launched Chocolate Dreams in 2004 from her small two-bedroom apartment. Her curiosity around chocolate was sparked years earlier with her very first entrepreneurial endeavour: an erotic store. In the world of chocolate, the ideas are limitless and the treat was a best-seller at her store. She also began to wonder why Jamaica wasn’t a bigger player in the billion-dollar chocolate industry, given that it has one of the top 5 fine-flavored cocoa in the world.
Her passion for chocolate fueled her desire to learn more about the product, so she started researching online and visiting chocolate shops and factories in the United States. Now years later, Michelle manages a team of 28 from two Kingston locations: a 1700 square-foot factory and a single retail store at Devon House. Within the last two years Michelle has also begun supplying hotels with chocolate amenities for their turndown services.
